Gotta Love Long Weekends

Had a nice and relaxed Easter weekend with friends… I treated myself to a new fairway wood, TaylorMade’s fantastic V Steel 15 degree 3 wood. I had a chance to enjoy it out on the gorgeous Oak Quarry golf club in Riverside. The course has lots of spectacular holes set among huge walls of granite, [...]

Time’s Flying

Man the last few weeks have been busy… Been all over the place, and it feels like today is the first day I kinda slowed down – due to a flu that kept me in bed most of the day. I hate being sick.

World’s Hottest Chili?

( Chili andFood andPersonal )

I have a love affair with chillies and anything spicy, so stuff like this “Ghost Chili” gets me excited… 1,001,304 Scoville Heat Units! That’s about one hundred times as hot as your average Jalapeno. I wonder how big a piece of this chili one could comfortably eat?

Nuremberg

I just left Nuremberg. It’s always impressive to be in places were history was made, and there sure was plenty of history made in this city – such as the Nuremberg Trials after World War II, for example.

Early Bird Catches The Worm

Here’s a good article on the early-morning routines of some successful business leaders. There’s no doubt that a little discipline in the morning will go a long way… I currently get up at 5:45 and leave for work at around 6:30, but that’s about it as far as routine is concerned. I’ll make myself go [...]

Say It Right

( Personal )

I continue to like this song… Hypnotic beat, intense lyrics, and the video has this nice icy aesthetic about it…

The American Dream & A Cure For Pompe Disease

( Books andPersonal )

New reading material: Barack Obama’s The Audacity of Hope (go Barack!!) and Geeta Anand’s The Cure. Looking forward to kicking back with these books over the weekend…

Hindustan

Here’s a small selection of pics from my recent trip to India. I’m still amazed by the colorful stories behind places like the Agra Fort, Qutub Minar, the Amber Palace, or Fatehpur Sikri… Unfortunately, pictures can’t do justice to the beauty of buildings like Akshardham, the Lotus Temple, and of course the Taj Mahal… But [...]

TGIF (or rather, TGIS)

Life’s good. Received a promotion, which means more work, but also new and interesting challenges. Which made me realize once again – I like change. Life becomes too boring if things don’t change… Stagnation is a killer. Well, off to dinner… and maybe a movie.

Back in Cali

I just got back from India last night where I spent an amazing two weeks with good friends. I’m tired, jet lagged, have a cold, and mountains of work after my vacation, but other than that, life’s good! India was an absolutely amazing experience, something words can’t convey very well… more on that plus pics [...]

Happy Holidays!

( Personal )

I’m going offline for the rest of the year… Enjoy the holidays! See you in 2007.

Infinite Possibilities

Part of the reason why I love chess is the amazing complexity of the game. As David Shenk explains in his fabulous book The Immortal Game: After the first round of moves (meaning, white makes its first move and black responds with its first move), there are 400 possible board positions, as white has twenty [...]

Caffeine-Free

( Personal )

Or I should say, coffee-free. I haven’t had any coffee at all in the past five weeks, which is a pretty remarkable achievement for me. I’ve been drinking plenty of tea instead…

More Reading Pleasures

( Books andPersonal )

I love books. So anytime I walk past a bookstore, I just can’t help myself – I can’t seem to leave without buying a few books. Same thing today, so I ended up with two more for my library. I’m very excited about one in particular, The Immortal Game. Thumbing through it, it looks like [...]

Food Coma

( Personal )

I must have gained 50 pounds with all the food I’ve had in the last four days… it’s a good thing Thanksgiving is over. I’ll have to put in some extra time on the treadmill this week…
