Here are a few pictures I took in and around Cologne Cathedral last week… The image quality is ok but not great, since all I had with me was my 4-year old Canon Powershot SD450 (I didn’t feel like lugging my DSLR with me) The SD450 clearly shows its age…

I do love that little camera though because it is about as small as can be… you can literally take it everywhere, and as they say, the best camera is the one that’s with you!

Almost Had A Heart Attack

Phew!! I am exhausted. Germany’s game against Poland was just absolutely nerve-wrecking! Germany scored the winning goal in the 91st minute, seconds before the game ended. I am sure my neighbors were wondering what was going on in my apartment since I was yelling and jumping up and down… What a great finish to an intense game!

Woohoo! 4:2 !! Gooooo Germany!

Now that’s what I call a fun opening game. Fast-paced, lots of goals… and Germany winning of course :)

I just hope the much (and justly) criticized German defense will improve or otherwise we’ll be in for some surprises…

Ok, so Wednesday we’ll be playing Poland. I’m thinking Germany will win 3:2.

Ok, I think I’ll have to lock myself into my apartment for the next couple of weeks with a good supply of beer and snacks. There’s plenty of soccer that needs to be watched!

My bet for tomorrow’s opening game, Germany vs. Costa Rica: 2:1

Just returned from Germany, and once again I am in catch-up mode. I think I’m going to spend this coming weekend at home, it’s been months since I last did that. Plus, the soccer world cup is starting this Friday, so I’ll probably want to spend a good amount of time in front of the TV over the weekend :)

Which reminds me, I still need to decide how to record games during weekdays… I don’t think I’ll do TiVo, it’s just not worth it given how little TV I usually watch. I guess I may just end up buying a cheap DVD recorder.

World Cup 2006

Woohoo!! Soccer World Cup 2006 will be starting soon. It happens only every four years, and it’s the biggest sports event on the planet, bigger even than the Olympic games. And this year, it will be taking place in the country where I grew up, Germany. Kickoff will be on June 9th with the game Germany vs. Costa Rica. I can’t wait!

The only problem will be the 9 hour time difference… Not sure how I’m going to be able to watch all the games I want to see. Maybe the time has finally come to buy a TiVo?

Heading back to California tomorrow. The week in Germany has gone by way too fast, and I’m bummed that I have to leave my family again. But it’s been one awesome week with lots of memories to last me for quite a while.

Oh did I mention that I hate packing?
